Osteopathic Manual Practitioner
As a graduate of Hamilton’s prestigious Canadian Academy of Osteopathy, Michael spent four years earning his Master of Practice Diploma in Osteopathic Manipulative Sciences (M.OMSc), and is currently a member with the Ontario Association of Osteopathic Manual Practitioners (OAO). An extensive and comprehensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology is the cornerstone to his application of osteopathic principles and treatment for clients.
Over the years, Michael has sustained a wide range of injuries and trauma to his body including (but not limited to… ) a hernia, broken back and concussions. His journey of recovery back to health introduced him to Osteopathy as a modality for post-surgical therapy. It was here that he discovered osteopathy’s potential for affecting the body’s ability to heal and restore itself from injuries once his body had been properly realigned. Literally transformed by this experience, the decision was made to pursue Osteopathy as a career.
Formally a client of LV Physiotherapy, Michael has now returned as an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner. Drawing from his experiences, he has a deeply rooted sense of empathy towards others that are living in pain and discomfort and wants to assist others on their road to rehabilitation. He strongly believes in the osteopathic principles surrounding the body’s ability to self-heal and self-regulate when the relationship between structures and functions have been properly realigned. As an Osteopathic Practitioner, he is a facilitator to help others unlock the body’s amazing capacity to heal and regulate itself, and whole heartedly believes in the connection between mind, heart and body.
Outside of work, Michael can be found negotiating between gym equipment and his middle aged body, attempting to do sun salutations on his yoga mat, but is happiest in the water or on the trails of ShortHills Provincial Park.
Mike is a graduate of Niagara College, where he was dual trained as an Occupational Therapist Assistant and a Physiotherapist Assistant and graduated with Honors.
Mike has various certifications which have enhance his skills as a Physiotherapist Assistant including Gentle Persuasion Approach and Falls Prevention. He is always interested in furthering his education and has done so by completing a certification course involving Fitness in Oncology.
Mike has had placements in a variety of areas around the Niagara region including Long-Term Care Facilities and the Niagara Health System. He has an interest in the healthcare field and has spent the past 5 years serving the community as a patient transfer.
