Functional Dry Needling

What is Functional Dry Needling?

Functional Dry Needling (FDN) is a very effective technique to treat chronic and acute pain. FDN is a therapeutic technique to target “trigger points” or taut bands of tissue within muscles that may be causing pain or dysfunction. A small, thin filament needle is used to stimulate the muscle for pain relief and to significantly improve function.

Is Functional Dry Needling different from Acupuncture?

FDN is very different from acupuncture. The only similarity between the two is the solid filament needle that is used. Functional Dry Needling is a form of treatment strongly supported by western medical philosophy. Functional Dry Needling is used as an adjunct to other various forms of treatment options that your physiotherapist will use to optimize your recovery.
